Kindly be advised that the Building Trades Employers’ Association (BTEA) and Massachusetts Construction Advancement Program (MCAP) will be offering a joint training opportunity along with Local #534 Plasterers and Cement Masons. This seminar is for all contributing contractors and members of Local #534.

Once an individual has completed this Silica Competent Person Training Seminar, each person will receive a certificate designating them as a competent person on site to manage the dangers of silica exposure. The new OSHA rule regarding Silica Exposure Limits has been delayed! The new rule is now in effect!  Take advantage of this final opportunity for silica training. This seminar will discuss the dangers of silica as well as the new regulations and how contractors and employees can meet the requirements.

The BTEA and the Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons International Association (OPCMIA) have collaborated to provide the Boston Hot Work Safety Program for the members of Local 534.

All Local 534 members must have a “Hot Works Training” Certification prior to January 17, 2017 to work on construction projects in the City of Boston. Local 534 will be offering “Hot Works Training” Seminars on the following dates with Instructor:

  • Saturday, December 17, 2016:      8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Michael Burns
  • Tuesday, December 20, 2016:       4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  – Michael Burns
  • Wednesday, December 21, 2016:  4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  – Michael Burns
  • Tuesday, January 3, 2017:            4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  – Barry Ryan

The above Trainings are Mandatory for all members or they will not be allowed to work on construction sites in the City of Boston
